Description

21(R)-Hydroxy Montelukast is an oxidative metabolite of the leukotriene LTD4 receptor antagonist Montelukast. This metabolite is hydroxylated at the benzylic 21-position of Monetlukast. Synthesis of 21(R)-Hydroxy Montelukast and the other oxidative metabolites of Montelukast has been reported. The diastereomer 21(S)-Hydroxy Montelukast has also been synthesized and described in the same report as 21(R)-Hydroxy Montelukast.
