Description

Sialyl Lewis A, Sodium Salt is a tetrasaccharide carbohydrate antigen which functions to provide support for E-, L-, and P-selectin-dependent adhesion. Sialyl Lewis A, Sodium Salt is found biologically attached to O-glycans on cell surfaces. It is known that the Sialyl Lewis A, Sodium Salt is a very important component in cell-cell recognition. Studies indicate that Sialyl Lewis A, Sodium Salt serves as a marker to recognize metastasizing tumor growth. These markers can then be identified using Sialyl Lewis a (121SLE). Alternate studies suggest that the secretion of Sialyl Lewis A, Sodium Salt can be suppressed in pancreatic cancer cells by the down regulation of the gene CABIN.
