Description

Rosiglitazone (potassium salt) is a PPARγ (peroxisome proliferator-activated subtype gamma receptor) agonist which regulates the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) and Na-K-2Cl (NKCC2) co-transporter. Studies have shown that NKCC2 is inhibited by down regulation of the genes that code for the protein. Further studies have shown that Rosiglitazone increases the abundance of the α subunit of ENaC but causes a decrease in the abundance of cortical β- and γ-ENaC.
