Quin 2 potassium salt hydrate is a preparation of the fluorescent Ca²⁺ chelator that presents a fluorescent signal upon chelation of Ca²⁺ ion. Quin 2 has been deployed in studies investigating cytoplasmic free Ca²⁺ concentrations in cells, and is used to measure and manipulate the Ca²⁺ concentrations for investigation.
