Description

Naphmethonium dibromide is a very potent allosteric modulator of muscarinic receptors, selective for M2-receptors. Retards the dissociation of the antagonist N-methylscopolamine and exhibits positive cooperativity, i.e. shows higher affinity for occupied receptors compared to free receptors. Naphmethonium dibromide's affinity for the free receptor is about 100-fold higher than with W84. pK_A =8.29, p(αK_A)=8.66, pEC_50,diss=8.36.
