Description

Mannostatin A HCl is an effective and potent inhibitor of MAN2A1 (Golgi alpha-mannosidase II). It is a metabolite produced by Streptoverticillium verticillus. Mannostatin A HCl was reported to be a potent inhibitor of rat epididymal α-mannosidase. It has also been reported to be an effective inhibitor of aryl α-mannosidase in mung and jack beans. It has been observed to be a good inhibitor of the purified plant processing mannosidase II when a substrate of p-nitrophenyl-α-mannopyranoside is used. Mannostatin A HCl shows no activity toward mannosidase I and In cultured MDCK cells, it has been found to inhibit the processing of the influenza viral hemagglutin.
