Description

Kirromycin from Streptomyces collinus is an antibiotic that prevents protein formation through inhibition of peptide elongation. The compound specifically effects the elongation of peptides by acting on EF-Tu (elongation factor-Tu) from leaving the ribosome in effect blocking the the C-C-A end of aminoacyl-tRNA with the peptidyl-transferase center.
