Description

(S)-Ketoprofen, the active form of ketoprofen, has been found to contain antiplatelet effects via inhibition of platelet thromboxane B₂ (TXB₂) generation. Studies show that this compound is also a potent inhibitor of prostaglandin F₂ α production. Additional experiments suggest that (S)-Ketoprofen contains antinociceptive properties which are involved in serotoninergic mechanism via both 5-HT(3) receptors located at spinal level and supraspinal 5-HT(1)/5-HT(2)/5-HT(7) receptors. (S)-Ketoprofen inhibits Cox (cyclooxygenase). (S)-Ketoprofen is an inhibitor of Cox-1 and Cox-2.
