Immobilised mutated version of Lipase B from Candida antarctica, expressed in Pichia pastoris.

CALB1 is evolved for fats and has the highest known specific activity towards tributyrin. Lipases are usually adsorbed on hydrophobic porous carriers limiting its application to water-free conditions. This CALB1 is on the contrary covalently immobilised on polymethacrylic epoxy carrier allowing also application at aqueous conditions. Here some leaching occurs, which can be avoided by 500 mM phosphate buffer.
