CI 966 hydrochloride is a selective inhibitor of GABA T-1 that is an anticonvulsive and neuroprotective. CI 966 hydrochloride displays over 200-fold selectivity over GABA T-2 and GABA T-3 (IC₅₀ values are 0.26 and 1.2 μM at cloned human and rat GABA T-1 respectively).
