Ganglioside GM1, Asialo

Ganglioside GM1, Asialo is a product that is a highly purified sialic acid-containing glycolipid which is a component of the cell plasma membrane and is known to modulate cell signal transduction. Ganglioside GM1, Asialo can be a useful marker of cell types and antigens. It has been reported to spontaneously form small homogeneous vesicles without any protein templating. In response to ganglioside GM1, it has been reported that T cells from Guillain-Barré syndrome patients produce interferon-gamma, a cytokine that is critical for the formation of adaptive immunity against bacterial or viral infections.
