Description

Etifoxine is a non-benzodiazepine modulator of GABAergic synaptic transmission described to produce anxiolytic effects. Etifoxine is demonstrated to potentiate GABAA receptor function in cultured neurons through interaction at the β subunit of the receptor, and is shown to evoke a chloride current in the absence of GABA and to enhance GABA-activated currents.
