Dynasore is a non-competitive, cell-permeable semicarbazone compound inhibitor of Dynamin I and Dynamin II. Members of the Dynamin family, including Dynamin I, Dynamin II and Dynamin III, are GTPase, microtubule-associated proteins which are involved in endocytosis, synaptic transmission and neurogenesis. Dynamin I is localized to the central nervous system, while Dynamin II exhibits ubiquitous distribution with highest expression found in testis. Dynasore acts as a potent inhibitor of endocytic pathways known to depend on dynamin by blocking coated vesicle formation. Dynamin Inhibitor I, Dynasore is an inhibitor of DRP1.
Soluble in DMSO (100 mM), and ethanol (5 mM). Insoluble in water.
