Description

Deoxymannojirimycin HCl is a mannose analog that inhibits mammalian MAN1A2 (Golgi-alpha-mannosidase I) at the active site. Known to block the biosynthesis of complex oligosaccharides. However, it does not block endoplasmic reticulum alpha-mannosidase. Observed to induce disorganization of the extracellular matrix fibronectin assembly. Also, deoxymannojirimycin treated in hepatocarcinoma H7721 cells resulted in ER stress and apoptosis.
