(+)-(18-Crown-6)-2,3,11,12-tetracarboxamide is a crown ether functionalized with stereodefined dimethylcarboxamide groups. (+)-(18-Crown-6)-2,3,11,12-tetracarboxamide has been described as an intermediate in the synthesis of an optically pure tetracarboxylic crown ethers for use in stereoisomeric separations and as a buffer additive in capillary electrophoresis procedures for separation of enantiomers. An analogous lipophilic tetracarboxamide crown ether has also been described with longer alkyl substitutions on the amide groups for design of membranes for enantiomeric excess determinations of compounds.
