Description

20-COOH-LTB₄ is an ω-oxidized metabolite of leukotriene B₄. Leukotrienes have been shown to be potent eicosanoid lipid mediators derived from phospholipase-released Arachidonic Acid. These compounds have been reported to be involved in inflammation and numerous homeostatic biological functions. In rat hepatocytes, 20-COOH-LTB₄ is noted to be a substrate for β-oxidation pathways found in peroxisomes and mitochondria.
