8-(4-Chlorophenylthio)guanosine 3',5'-cyclic Monophosphate triethylammonium salt (8-pCPT-cGMP • TEA) is a selective activator of cGMP-dependent protein kinase Iα, Iβ and type II as well as of cGMP-gated ion channels. The compound has a higher activation potential as compared to cGMP, the compound displays excellent cell membrane permeability and phosphodiesterase stability. 8-pCPT-cGMP • TEA has been preferred alternative to situations where dibutyryl-cGMP has been found to be an unsuitable analog.
