5-Carboxy-fluorescein diacetate N-succinimidyl ester is a fixable-cell-permeant, fluorescein-based tracer for very long-term cell labeling. It is used to determine intracellular pH in bacteria by fluorometry. Also used in labeling human intervertebral disk cells in vitro for fluorescence microscopy.
