4-(Bromomethyl)-6,7-dimethoxycoumarin is a reagent for the covalent fluorescent labeling of compounds. 4-(Bromomethyl)-6,7-dimethoxycoumarin is described to react with nucleophilic amino acid residues to introduce the fluorescent tag to protein samples and to react with carboxylic acids for derivatization and determination by HPLC.
