Description

Aspyrone is an epoxide-containing natural product antibiotic isolated from Aspergillus ochraceus and Aspergillus mellus molds. Aspyrone demonstrates nematicidal and antimicrobial activity and weak broad-spectrum antibiotic properties. Identification of Aspyrone production on corn and rye samples under arbitrarily selected laboratory conditions suggests the possibility of natural levels of Aspyrone in moldy feed grains.
